Black Velvet

Black Velvet

A little fancy, a little rebellious.
Sparkling wine meets rich Guinness Extra Stout in this classic layered drink—bright bubbles floating above a dark, velvety base.

It looks like a magic trick and drinks smoother than you'd expect.
Proof that even Champagne enjoys a good pint now and then.

Perfect for St. Paddy’s mischief. Sláinte!

Ingredients

  • 4 oz chilled Champagne (Cava and prosecco will work here too)
  • 4 oz chilled Guinness (or your favourite)

Directions

  1. Chill your ingredients well, this works best when ingredients are cold.
  2. Pour champagne or other sparkling into a champagne flute, filling about halfway.
  3. Top up glass with Guinness by slowing pouring it over the back of a spoon, the heavier stout will collect at the bottom, creating a great visual.
  4. Enjoy!

Notes

The champagne flute gives a nice visual but you can put this together in a beer glass just remember to fill the glass champagne and half stout.

If you think you want a few more bubbles and little less stout in your bubbles try 2/3 champagne to 1/3 stout.
